How to Use:
Set up a Pretend Shop with the Store Cards. One person/group pretends to be the Buyer, and selects item(s) from the shop to purchase. Another person/group pretends to be the Shopkeeper and adds up the prices of the items. The Buyer pays for the items with the Play Money and the Shopkeeper provides change (if needed).
Key Learning Skills include:
- Equivalency of bills and coins. This can help students learn the different ways the bills and coins can be represented
- Addition and subtraction of bills and coins
- Making change. This is as realistic as it gets. Knowing the correct amount of change and the different ways that it can be represented is a foundation block for financial literacy.
